detail from Along the Estuary by hphnstories detail from Along the Estuary by hphnstories
A detail of my larger drawing, Along the Estuary [link] that I particularly liked and wanted to show off. :D Mainly because I'm not so proud of the rest of the image and didn't feel it went as well as it could have done.

Follow the link to the main deviation to see info about this place, etc.

Comments and constructive criticism welcome!

point of view 1: I really like this, I think you've got a great style going on here, and obvious talent, with an eye for detail, I think you have a great ability to capture a scene, the whole image is wonderful as well, but I like being able to see the little details, something you only really get if you see it in real life, or someone does a close up shot, like this :3

point of view 2: as I was replying to your comments, dad came in and got curious, as I showed him some of your drawings, like this one, and he said that he thing's you've got an eye for good composition, as in the way in which the image fit together, 'the way in which they're assembled, not the way in which they're drawn, like the story of the novel, rather than the way it's written' but he likes your style as well, and says you've got nice skill with graphite. Oh by the way, did I mention he went to art school at Central School of art (which became Central school of st. Martins) so yah =P *applauds anyone who gets compliments from my dad, who is sometimes kinda hard to impress >.>*
((that's why I never went to art school >.> my parents put me off X3))

Thank you so much my dear! Thanks for telling me what your dad said too, that's an amazing thing to hear! It's a shame he put you off art school though!

Sorry about taking so long to reply to this, I've been terrible about my dA messages. :( How are you doing these days? Hope you are well.

This looks strangely familiar, where is this?

It's in North Kent, in the area called Swale just to the south of the Isle of Sheppey. Though a lot of the Thames Estuary areas in North Kent look surprisingly similar in my experience, that might be why it looks familiar if you've never been to Swale.

haven't been to swale, but have been to the Isle of Sheppey and Whitstable

Sheppey is a really cool place. I love it there but it's hard to get anywhere on it by public transport (except the towns, but they are boring). But Swale has a similar landscape to the actual island so it's a good substitute for me, and there's a train station right there!

I think my favourite part of this is the fence. I rather like the grass as well.

I love that fence, it was what made me make this in the first place. :D Thanks for the feedback!

Creepy:o again in a good way:nod: These must have taken you quite some time right? I'm loving them, I don't love to be gloomy but I do love how they make me feel gloomy:XD: Remind me never to go there ok? :P

Each other the 4 A1 drawings took 4 to 5 days except the pylons one which took 3 to 4 because it's simpler. So yeah, this one took quite a long time. (by my standards anyway. I watch an artist who considers 100 hours for one image a long time. :fear: And I'm sure you've been known to spend a long time on your work. :D)

I'm glad I've got across the inherent gloominess of Sheppey! It does have a forgotten feel. Though when the sun's out it can be a bit nicer. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah sounds about normal hehe:la: I hate that it takes so long though, so I do feel for yer:XD: The results are usually worth it though, your work was no exception:la: 100, blimey. I'd get bored:XD: I'm a perfectionist for sure, but sometimes I just can't be arsed. Hats off to this artist:worship:

No problem:la:

Me too, the can't be arsed thing that is. This is why most of my sketchbook work for uni is done very fast. That's how I tend to draw naturally.

Hats off to her indeed. Coincidentally enough, she got a DD today for the exact work that took 100 hours! Check it out---> [link] I'm glad to see she's getting some recognition, and definitely to see a really strong piece of traditional art getting a DD. :D

I'm not sure if this is what it's supposed to be but I really like the wind effect on the grass...

Yeah, that's what it is. :D It's always windy at this particular place. Glad you like it! :) I like this particular part too which is why I posted it as a detail of the larger work.

Thanks! That fence was what inspired this drawing in the first place, I seem to remember. Without that it would just be a load of litter and grass of different shades. :D
