Description
Another image from my Dungeness book, this time a double page spread. My character looks up and sees he is surrounded by screaming gulls, their pale winter feathers standing out against the stormy grey sky.
...Though this image was far from poetic to assemble.
It took about 30 layers. Each of the gulls is a separate sketchhbook image.
I was aiming for quite a loose, free, emotive image here. What do you think of it? Comments and critique very welcome.
Media used: pencil, ballpoint pen, watercolour, watercolour pencil, digital colouring.

This reminds me of Jamie Kathleen's Findings- it's a collection of poems and essays that describe unusual/ unappreciated aspects of everyday life, and someway through the book she talks about seagulls extensively on one of those lonely looking islands in the outer Hebrides... that's what I get from this at least.
